INAGURATION!!!!!

The inaguration was awesome! I could'nt see anything though. We woke up at 6:00 and we were out of the house by 7:00. We walked to the Metro station, it was already packed! We rode to Fort Totten, after that we trandsfered to the green line. 4 of us stayed behind on the red line because they had yellow and purple tickets to the inaguration. We had silver section tickets. We got into DC at about 8:00. We alked around for a long time. Three-fouths of our 22 people group left for Ces's old office to watch the inaguration on the televisoin. They had given up their hope to get
Our group and the Capitol Building
into the gates because of the crowd. A small group of us went on. Our group was Herb, Linda, Kristine, Me, Mom and Ki. The sidewalks were packed, the streets were packed and the metro was packed! We got through the checkpoint, but they closed the gates and as we were waiting in line people were coming back the other way saying that they were turned away at the gate. We waited in line still, I was afraid that we wouldn't be able to see the inaguration. We saw that the police opened the gates for a wave of people, so we saw that they were at the front. We waited and saw the gates open all the way. Thousands of people with the same silver tickets flooded through the silver ticket gates. People were so excited, they crashed through gates and jumped over the barricades. We got a nice spot on the grass. We could see the top of the Capitol Building. I couldn't see anything but people. I could hear fine because there was a speeker in front of us. The swearing in was amazing. President Obama's speech was amazing too! We had to walk at least 3 miles to get to Cec's old office. It took us so long because all of the roads were closed off because of the parade. When we got home we had dinner and we rested a lot. Our feet were feelin like they were going to fall off! Tomorrow we have to go back to MI, I can't wait until I get to tell you guys all about my trip in person!

  1. What an exciting day you had! We tried to watch the inauguration over the internet at school, but got booted off-I think sooooo many people were trying to see it that the system was overloaded. Instead, we did the old school way (watched it on TV). Miss Lee shedded a few tears (of joy). I never in my wildest dreams every expected a day like today to happen. And best of all, you got to be there in person! What a great country we live in!! I'm sure you have some great stories to tell. Have a safe trip home.

It was an awesome day! You, Mom and Ki were lucky to be there. How cool that you were a part of history in the making. It sounds like you and Ki were great troopers. I liked your group pic. It will be fun to hear the stories when you get home.
I went to the Wealthy Theater with DeDe, Henry, Sonya and Marianne to watch the Inauguration. I went to Sonya & Marianne's w/ DeDe and Henry tonight. I LOVE BARACK & MICHELE OBAMA and their family. They give me HOPE for our country which means for us and you and Ki and your children and theirs. Whew !!
Have a good trip home, I will be so glad to have you all back with me. Gabe and Kisa have been asking where you and Ki are.
    Love You,
    Susie

  3. Fu - WOW! What a day you had yesterday. Actually what a day the whole world had, watching such a wonderful moment in history happen, a moment that brings renewed hope to so many people - and I am one of them. Uncle Scott and I found ourselves in tears many times yesterday as we realized over and over just how HUGE this whole Barack Obama as our 44th President thing is. We even cried when we watched him and Michelle dance together to the song "At Last" because at last we have someone in the White House who will really care about ALL people and their needs and how he and his Team (people like Cec) can help and empower us all to help ourselves and each other. History was made and you were there for it. What an absolutely fantastic experience! And I think it's especially cool that Malia and Sasha are you and Ki's age, so you can relate to them as fellow kids. Imagine if YOU and KI were living in the White House?!? I think you guys oughta become pen pals with the Obama girls. That would be way special. Anyway We love U 2 the moon & back 4ever and can't wait to see you when you get home!!!
